She was born September 26th, 1941, in Peoria Il., to Daniel Ray Chapman and Minnie Mary (Swank) Chapman. She married James Sherlock on April 8th, 1960, he survives.
Janet is also survived by two sons, Greg (Debbie) Sherlock of Bellevue and Danny (Erin) Sherlock of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Jayme (Chris) Harper of Pensacola, Fl; Danny (Sammy) Pherigo of East Peoria, James(Nicole) Sherlock of Pekin, Justin Sherlock of Peoria, Blake (Kristin) Pherigo of Marquette Heights, Sami Sherlock of West Peoria, Jenna (Wesley) Crowder of Jacksonville and Jake (Samantha) Sherlock of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Taylor, Alivia, Liam, Brooklyn, Averie, and Kohen.
Her parents; four siblings, Robert, Donald, Margaret, and Karen preceded her in death.
Janet graduated high school from Illini Bluffs in 1959. She worked in several secretarial positions for four years. Her passion for working with children led her to her subsequent employment at Seapco for 11 years. She retired in 2007. She attended church at Faith Missionary Church, where she taught Sunday School. Janet had a love for gardening and was very successful with it. She loved traveling, as this is one thing on her bucket list. Janet wanted to travel to all 50 states, she succeeded. Nothing made her happier than taking care of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7th at Faith Missionary Church, 1825 South Airport Rd, Peoria, from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Services will follow directly after the visitation. She will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
