Leland Henry Johnson, "Lee" age 87, of Mahomet, formerly of the Peoria area, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. He was born on December 27, 1935 in Peoria to Henry and Carrie Johnson. He married Shirley Polhemus on March 2, 1963. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Marla (Paul) Kumpf, Daryl (Sheila) Johnson, and Gary (Renee Monfort) Johnson; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bernard and Leonard Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Johnson; and brother, J. Delmer Johnson.
Lee was President for over 30 years of Jebson Leasing Inc., their family-owned trucking business. After retirement, he worked for Dallas & Mavis, Ag-Land FS, and RJ Distributing Company. He also farmed and was a member of Peoria County Farm Bureau; he received an award for outstanding Conservationist from the Peoria County ASCS.
A Funeral Service for Lee will occur at 11AM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1427 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Visitation will occur one hour prior at the church. Reverend Lisa Dietrich will officiate. A private burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
