

He was born November 22, 1936 in Princeton, IL to Rollin and Annabelle (Krone) Eickmeier. He married Truby Brooks in 1974. He later married Mable Sample on April 22, 1995 in Bellevue. She preceded in death on September 12, 2015. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Stanley Eickmeier and a sister, Margie Livesay.
Surviving is his son, Joe (Jennifer) Eickmeier of Norwood, three step-children, Wilma (Joel) Elliott of Henry, Curtis (Mary) Sample of Bellevue and Scott Sample of Bloomfield, IA; ten grandchildren, Madelyn Eickmeier, McKenzie Corbett, Dakota Conover, Cheyenne Conover, Blaisen Sample, Alyssa Blakeley, Joel David Elliott II, Ethan Elliott, Lane Elliott, and Jason Stone Sample; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mannie served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958 and then served as the Chief of Police in Bellevue during the 1960's. He then worked as a Welder and last in Fabrication for Koenig Body & Equipment in Peoria. Mannie drove a bus for many years for Averyville Baptist Church, was later a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, where he was a very active volunteer with the Jolly 60's and most recently was attending at Creve Coeur Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, making fudge, gardening and canning. With an artistic eye he created beautiful stained glass pieces and other crafts. He will be remembered for being helpful and patient but most of all, he will be remembered for his life altering bear hugs and handshakes.
A funeral service will be at 11 am on Thursday, June 8, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel in Peoria. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
