Mary Elizabeth Whitacre Davis

She was born on Oct. 11, 1930 in Pekin to George and Lucilla (Taylor) Whitacre. She married Marvin Davis on June 10, 1948 in Kentland, IN. He passed away on Oct. 22, 2009 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, William Whitacre.

Survivors include four children: Terry (Dorothy) Davis of Bartonville, Marvin (Lucy Israel) Davis of Nye, MT, Laurie (Steve) Fawley of Bartonville, Susan Davis of Urbana, five grandchildren: Mele, Russell, Michael, Kimberly, Bryan, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Brian (Connie) Whitacre.

Mary was a Matron at Limestone Community High School and later a Cook for the St. John’s Lutheran Church Day Care, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the Bartonville United Methodist Church, its choir, and the Third Circle of Methodist Church. Mary was also active in the Bartonville Grade School PTA, the Smithville Homemakers, and the Sunshine Club of the Union Mission of Pekin.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Rev. Nick Jordan will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Peoria AMVETS or the Bartonville American Legion.
