

Melvin was born March 21, 1932 in Peoria, IL the son of Frederick M. & Christine J. (Molchin) Schick. He married Carol Cape on May 31, 1952 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Lori (Kenneth) Glenzinski of Morton, and Scott Schick of Maryland; three grandchildren, Ashleigh (Jacob) Trine, Hayley Schick, and Juliet Schick; three great-grandchildren, Ashton, Aydin, and Jacob Jr.; four sisters, Evelyn (Ed) Cool of Bartonville, Marlene (Roy) Struchen of Rockwell, Iowa, Alberta (Harry) Larson of Washington, and Juanita (Harold) Vires of Bartonville; one brother David (Juliette) Schick of Hanna City; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Wiebler of Bartonville; one brother-in-law Daniel (Kathy) Cape of Bartonville; and many nieces and nephews.
Melvin worked at Ameren Cilco as a General Supervisor until he retired in 1987. Tony and Carol spent winters in Mission Texas enjoying their retirement.
He is a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville.He served on the Oak Grove School Board and was also a member of the Good Sams Club. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him a special Joy.
Melvin served as a Limestone Township trustee for several years. He was also an avid Cub’s Fan.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor Michael Jones will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services also at the church.
Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville.
