Rick L. Meyers

Mapleton – Richard L. “Rick” Meyers, 74, of Mapleton, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on April 15, 1946 in Winchester, VA, a son of LeRoy Hamilton and Leona Francis (Saupe) Meyers. He married Betty Louise Cooper on May 13, 1972 in East Peoria, IL. She survives.

Rick is also survived by his two sons, Erick Lee (Michele Cassidy) Meyers of Peoria, IL and Shannen Lee (Jennifer Williamson) Meyers of Mapleton, IL; 8 grandchildren, Erin (Josh) McDowell, Derick Meyers, Abbey Norwood, Ericka Meyers, Sebastien Meyers, Autumn Meyers, Noah Meyers and Savannah Meyers. One brother, Ronald L. “Ron” (Marla Curry) Meyers and 13 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; LeRoy Hamilton and Leona Francis (Saupe) Meyers.

Rick served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from February 1966 to October 1969 as an electronic technician, stationed in Keflauik, Iceland.

Rick worked for Western Union, ATS and retired as a Communications Technician at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on April 15, 2014.

Rick was a member of the Church of Christ Northwest in Peoria for over 21 years, also serving as a Deacon for most of those years. Rick was devoted to his family and to serving the church. He was known as a very jovial individual and a friend to many.

Rick’s funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. To attend the service virtually, please visit www.facebook.com/DavisonFulton/. Elder’s Bill and Bob Cooper will officiate. His visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight or Church of Christ Northwest Peoria.
