Robert C. "Bob" Salm

Bob was born on July 5, 1925 in Anna, Illinois to Bruno and Murill (Dillman) Salm. He married Helen Rosenbohm Janssen on September 10, 1949 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2004.

Bob is survived by his children, Linda (Larry) Von Behren of Glasford, IL and Alan (Barbara) Salm of Springfield, IL; his grandchildren, Amanda Miller, Shawna Newman, Brianna Smith, Jayma Haffner, Erin Palmer, Ashley Salm, Nathan Hasselbring and Shana Lister; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; and his brother, John Salm.

Bob served in the US Navy and Marines during the Korean War. He worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Co retiring in 1987 and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Bob never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 10am at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Karl Eckoff will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Glasford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
