Robert Allen Hoerr

He was born on June 26, 1930, in Pekin, Illinois to Alfred L. and Louise Meyer Hoerr. He married Marilyn Hayes Skinner on August 10, 1984, in Bartonville, IL. She survives.

Surviving also are two sons from his first marriage to Helen Nellos; David (and Mary) Hoerr of Madison, Wisconsin, and Douglas (and Andrea) Hoerr of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin; one step-son Scott L. Skinner of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Winifred Hoerr of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and one sister, Eileen (and Richard) Heggemeier of Peoria, Illinois. One sister, Margaret Hoerr, and one step-daughter, Susan L. Skinner, preceded him in death.

Robert was a foreman at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1982. He filled his life with many joyful activities including family, flying, hunting/fishing, choral singing and travel. To these ends, he chose to join the Illinois Air National Guard as well as learned to be a private pilot and flew his own aircraft. His choral memberships included the choir at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Illinois, and the choir at Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona. While living in Pekin, Illinois, he was a member of the Pekin Civic Chorus. Many of the good people he met during these activities remain cherished friends to this day. His faith was important throughout his life and he was a member of both the Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Illinois, and the Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona. The family is grateful for the support and love from all their friends and would like to thank Valor Hospice Care and the staff at Beehive Assisted Living for their loving care of Robert these past two years.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Illinois, with Rev. Richard Hanson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Davison-Fulton Funeral Chapels in Bartonville, Illinois, are in charge of arrangements.
