He is the beloved husband of Linda for 53 years and, a loving father to two daughters, Jill (Jeff) Seaton of Dunlap, and Jodi (Jason) Van Wetering of Naperville, and one son, Rob (Jamie) Martin of Dunlap. Proud grandpa to nine grandchildren, Brody, Ben and Bryce Seaton, Logan, Lucas and Nolan Van Wetering, and Laila, Camille and Cal Martin; four sisters, Becky Whittaker of Peoria, Nancy Blanford of Denver, Mary (Terry) Pyatt of Bartonville, and Jennifer (Greg) Tanner of Marion. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brother in laws, Dick Whittaker and Steve Blanford.
Bob graduated from Limestone High School in 1968. He then became a union electrician for IBEW for 15 years and worked as a staff engineer for Mitsubishi Motors for 26 years, retiring in January 2013. He left his mark in the community as a volunteer for Hollis School and as the Hollis Township tax assessor.
Bob’s greatest passion was his family and he demonstrated his love for them everyday.
Sports played an important role in Bob’s life. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan and coached several of his daughters' softball teams. If he was not in the dugout, he would coach from the stands at all of his kids' events. As time passed, Bob and Linda became the Martin grandkids' biggest fans traveling all over Illinois and sometimes other states to cheer them on. After retirement, you could find Bob on the golf course with lifelong friends.
Bob’s family has arranged a Celebration of Life for him to be held at Coyote Creek Golf Club (8201 West Lancaster Road, Bartonville, IL) on March 8, 2025 from 1 - 5 pm.
Cremation has been entrusted to Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Bob’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
