

He was born September 7, 1941 in Benton, MO to Alta Mae (Brown) and Isom Edward Stroud. He married Diane Kay Walker on June 10, 1966 in Bartonville, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Stroud; son, Todd (Lisa) Stroud of Bartonville, three grandchildren, Brittany, Kirstin, and Joseph Aaron Edward; his faithful furry companions, Tila and Jackie; one brother Thomas (Connie) Stroud of East Peoria; sisters, Pearl Lappin, Dora Brown, and Margaret (Douglas) Shields; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
Sherman was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War stationed in Fulda, Germany as an E5.
He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1999 from the Proving Grounds after 34 years of service. He was an avid bowler, bowling both a 300 game and a 298 game.
Sherman fought a valiant battle with kidney cancer, never giving up until the very end.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bartonville, Illinois. Pastor Jeff Leeman will officiate. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
