Shirley Ann Dieckow

Shirley Ann Dieckow, 85, of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Heddington Oaks in West Peoria surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 29, 1930 in Effingham, Illinois to Ellsworth and Helen (Hoilman) Funk. She was married to Frederick Norman Dieckow on February 5, 1954 in Bartonville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2000 in Peoria, Illinois. She is also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jean Norris.

Shirley is survived by one son, Lance (Janice ) Dieckow of Mapleton, Illinois; three grandchildren, Richard, Elizabeth and Gregory Capitelli and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Emily Capitelli.

She was a Medical Administrative Secretary at the Peoria State Hospital. Shirley was a devoted member of the Bartonville United Methodist Church. She loved fishing trips with her family to Minnesota. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to banjo shows watching her son. Shirley was an avid CUB fan for many years.

Funeral services will be on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Bartonville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Nick Jordan will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 7PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and one hour prior to services on Friday at her church. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to her church or to the American Cancer Society.
