Steven Pinyan

He was born October 10, 1947 in Winston Salem, NC to Elmo and Pauline (Zimmerman) Pinyan. He married Patricia McGovern on May 23, 2002 in NC. She survives.

Also surviving are his children Robert (Angela) Pinyan of Winston Salem, NC, Bryan Pinyan of Wilmington, SC; step-children Dennis M. Lewis and Thomas J. (Angela) Lewis both of Peoria; two brothers Barry Pinyan and Ronald (Doris) Pinyan both of Winston Salem, NC; one sister, Pamela (Donald) Estes of Rural Hall, NC; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Steven received his Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement. He was a police officer for the Winston Salem Police Department and later served many years with the ATF in North Carolina. He was also a decorated Vietnam veteran serving in both the Air Force and the Marine Corps.

Steven loved to golf and was a former club pro in North Carolina. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. He touched the lives of many and everyone who knew him loved him. He especially loved and cared deeply for his family.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded.
