Sylvia Fromm

She was born on July 20, 1909 in Peoria, IL to Lester B. and Caroline E. (Mellor) Jones. She married Ira E. Fromm, July 13, 1947 in San Francisco, CA. at an International Christian Endeavor Convention. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2000. Her parents, two sisters, two brothers and one niece also preceded her in death.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was a graduate of Manual High School and the St. Francis School of Nursing. She was employed in the Medical Department at Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1971 from the E. Peoria plant.

She served in the Army Nurse Corps in 1945. She was a Trustee on the Board of Christian Endeavor International for some years as well as serving as President of the Illinois Christian Endeavor Union and in other capacities in the Peoria Area Christian Endeavor. She was a Lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bartonville, where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years.

Sylvia was a loving Aunt, who was a great Christian influence to her family. She enjoyed Traveling, Photography, Genealogy and family gatherings. A special thank you to OSF St. Francis Hospice and the Active Way at Riverview for their loving care.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 5 to 7 pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel with a funeral service on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. Deb Howard will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
