Terry was born on November 27, 1951 in Peoria, IL, to the late Clarence A. Sutter and Anna W. Sutter (Wiss)
Terry is survived by his wife Cyndy, married on November 28, 1995; Children Joshua, Heidi, Shannon and Jason; Six grandchildren Megan, Seth, Lucas, Madison, Rylan, and Paige; his brother David.
For the past 2 years Terry has worked for Peoria Charter, both driving and fixing buses. Previously he spent 14 years as a correctional officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Most of his employment was spent working within the on-site bakery of the prison in Canton, IL, where he helped to instruct inmates on proper techniques within the kitchen.
Terry was a dedicated cook throughout his life. Starting in 1968, he began working for Avanti’s Italian Restaurant, and worked his way up to general manager throughout his over 25 years with the company. Venturing into entrepreneurship, Terry, along with two others, opened Tony C’s Sports Bar and Italian Eatery in 1990. He ran the entire food operation for the business. His passion for managing kitchens/restaurants was a major driving force throughout his life.
Terry was a man with many hobbies, including fishing, water sports, R/C planes, stock car racing, cooking, golfing, target shooting, flying airplanes, scuba diving, and gardening. Always an adventurous spirit, when new opportunities presented themselves, Terry was more than willing to try. He loved meeting new people and was able to connect almost instantly with complete strangers. His love of people extended to animals as well.
With his wife Cyndy, he had planned to retire in northern Wisconsin and spent much of the last decade working to prepare his property there for the move. Nothing made him happier than cleaning up his land, working on his garage, or fishing in Wisconsin.
