Violet M. Haage

She was born on May 18, 1933 in rural Glasford, a daughter of Carl and Hulda (Slone) Fischer. Violet married Arnold H Haage on September 10, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2006.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harland Fischer; three sisters, Helen Diver, Dorothy Riekena, and Rosalie Baker.

Violet was survived by her sons, Douglas (Marie) Haage of Glasford, John (Julia) Haage of Bartonville, and Philip (Donna) Haage of Huntley; eight grandchildren, Kristie Haage of Bartonville, Kortney (Matt) Gronewold of Mapleton, Kelsey Haage of Bartonville, Matthew (Shayla) Haage of Chicago, Bryan Haage of Wheaton, Jedidiah Haage of Glasford, Katherine (Nathan) Loftus of Clarksville, TN, and Kassandra Haage of Bartonville; two great-grandsons, Oliver and Ryder Gronewold of Mapleton; one great-grandbaby Loftus due in July 2024 of Clarksville, TN; and one sister, Edna Brown of Pueblo West, CO.

After high school Violet worked as a secretary for Block and Kohl's Co and later Roszels Dairy in Peoria. She went on to become a part owner of H & H Hardware in Glasford until her retirement.

Violet was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Glasford, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Dorcus Circle Bible study group, quilter, and held several offices of the ELCW. She was president of the Illini Bluffs Ladies Bowling League for over 25 years.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at the Villas of Holly Brook in Bellevue, and the Transitions Hospice team for all of the love and support that was shown to her while that was her home.

A visitation will be held at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11am, with a visitation to start one hour prior at 10am. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
