Bill didn't teach me to sing. He didn't teach me to play. He taught me something far more foundational. He taught me by example that one could do those things. My life was lifted by my uncle Bill and is leadened with his loss. Call me Julie, if you wanna sing a song.

I was so sorry to hear about Bill passing.  I had the honor of working with Bill for 25 years.  He was such a kind, soft spoken person and yet had a dry wit sense of humor.  He was also such a talented artist.  I am so thankful that we have a couple of his paintings framed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Julie and family.

I have told this next little funny on Bill so many times over the last few weeks that I can hear Bill whispering, “people are getting tired of that one, move on.”  You should know, he’s been reading the Bible a lot more lately, especially at bedtime.
Okay, a couple weeks or maybe a month ago, we were sitting at the kitchen table, noonish, and Bill fell asleep.  I was trying not to wake him up but I did.  He says “Hey we should get three dogs.”  “Three dogs!”  I exclaimed, “Why three dogs?”  “Well, we could name them Shirlee, Goodness and Merci and they would follow us all the days of their lives.”  OMG!

So sorry, Bill is loved and he will be missed. He was such a thoughtful and caring man.  A wonderful husband, and giving friend. Our hearts are broken.

we loved Bill,he was such an example of "the quiet man" but so very talented like his beloved Julie....we are so glad we had the privilege  to work with him and know him.....our deepest condolences to all of Bill and Julie's family..Bob and Desiree Carlson

So sorry to hear of Bills passing . He worked with my husband for many years at Vonachens .  He was always a pleasant guy to talk to and both him and Julie were very talented in painting.  Prayers to your families.  Jeff and Marsha Copple

I’m not sure Janet nor I have the words to say how sorry we are to hear of Bill’s passing.  One of the best people I’ve ever known; funny, talented - I can think of very few people I think as much of.  We worked together for almost 20 years, and all I have are great memories and smiles from his dry humor.  RIP, friend.

When Bill and I were 19 or 20 years old, we decided to hitch-hike to California and find work etc.  This was 1971-ish.  Peace, Love, Dope…We were the dopes.  Charles Manson had done his “thing” and our poor parents were scared to death.  We got out there, found jobs, worked for about 2 weeks and got a weekend off.  We went to the San Diego Zoo where we had a great time, I got to pet some kind of baby wild cat, Bill would remember, not me.  Then we saw a bear sleeping on a log, looking depressed.  It was a good day.  We were picnicking on the lawn when some young people came and started talking to us.  And just like that, we were on our way to a commune and being brainwashed.
Long story short, it didn’t take.  Within two days we were heading home, back to Illinois.  Turns out, Bill and I were just too ordinary to be hippies.  Peace, Love, Dope…we were the dopes.
We got married instead.
