

Bill was born March 24, 1951 in Macomb, Illinois to John Robert and Ruby Jeanette (Hendrickson) Purdum. He married Julie K. Ball on October 13, 1972 at St. John Lutheran Church, Peoria,IL.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; his sister Kathy (Dannie) Workman; brother-in-law Sam (Karen) Ball Sr., sister-in-law Carol (Paul) Finley; 8 nieces and nephews, Lisa (Rob) Smith and their sons, Melanie Finley and son, Erin (Mark) Clark and their daughters, Rachel (Lenny) Strietmatter and their daughter, Brad (Annabel) Knaub, Mary (Peter) Perkins and their daughters, Sam (Nicole) Ball and Wade Ball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, mother-in-law and two very loving dogs.
Bill worked 43 years for Vonachen Industrial Supplies, now part of Home Depot Pro. He retired from there March 31, 2016.
Bill was a quiet guy who liked to paint landscapes of rural Hanna City, the town he grew up in. He had played bass in local bands and was currently learning to play the harmonica.
Bill was just a really nice man and a terrific husband and will be missed. In Julie's words: "He was the best thing that ever happened to me."
A memorial service for Bill will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 2pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, 1203 W Garfield Ave, Bartonville, IL. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, IL.
