He was born January 25, 1928 in Zanesville, OH to George and Clara (Pickron) Goad. He married Carolyn Stanley, December 10, 1954 in Jacksonville, N.C. She survives.
Also surviving are his three children, William A. (Debra) Goad of Glasford, David M. (Melodie) Goad of Polo, IL, and Patricia L. (Thomas) Moss of Peoria; five grandchildren, Olivia M. (Eugene) Gilkey of Sterling, Charlette N. Goad of Lafayette, IN., William J. (Amanda) Goad of Williamsberg, IA, James M. (Katlyn) Goad of Glasford and August T. (Sandra) Moss of Chicago, IL; six great-grandchildren, Harper, Brooklyn, Brianna, Braxton, Brayden Goad and Brianna Moss; two siblings, John A. (Marilyn) Goad of Severance, CO. and Joan A. Watts of LaPointe, WI, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Deloris Goad and one brother-in-law, Tony Watts.
William served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years and then worked as a salesman for over 20 years for Sears. He actively volunteered at Wildlife Prairie Park for over 8 years and was a longtime member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Peoria, the Peoria Camera Club and the Bartonville American Legion Post #979.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Peoria, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Craig Stanford will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
