Audrey was born on January 30, 1935 in Bassett, VA to William Earl Hammock and Nannie Ruth Hammock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dewey Witt and a son, Joey Witt.
Mrs. Witt was a housewife most of her life. Her last working years was in the Central Supply Department at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County. After retiring she volunteered her time to hospice care. She loved to travel and was an avid reader, she would read just about any book but mainly harlequin romance, but when her eyesight began to fail, you could hear her making up rhymes like Butterfly fly away, Butterfly Butterfly fly so high, Butterfly Butterfly look down on me from up above or yolding to I wanna be a cowboy sweetheart by Patsy Montana. She will be dearly missed by us all.
Audrey is survived by her children, Dennis Witt(Jackie) of Martinsville, VA, David Witt of Alabama, Susan Lovell (Sam) of Union Hall, VA, and Jason Witt (Liz) of Stuart, VA, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11:00 Am in Henry Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care that was given to her by Frances Bracey, Priscilla Moore, Marie Dandridge and Commonwealth Hospice Care.
