

Cecil G. Hopkins, Jr., 59, of Spencer, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Patrick County on January 8, 1953 to the late Cecil G. Hopkins, Sr., and Louise Gilley Hopkins. He was retired from Hooker Furniture Company where he worked in the sanding room. He was a member of True Vine Church of Worship.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, James Hopkins.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Rebecca Murray Hopkins of the home, two daughters, Crystal Peters and Anita Gockley both of Fieldale and one step-daughter, Christy Newman of Bassett, one step-son, James Murry of Spencer, four sisters, Virginia Eller of Pine Hall, NC, Dorothy Plaster of Fieldale, Talina Hudson of Ridgeway and Mary Ann Hopkins, two brothers, Oscar Hopkins of Patrick Springs and Leon Hudson of Georgia, four granddaughters, three grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance service will be held 7:00p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at True Vine Church of Worship with Rev. Clifford Collier officiating, interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church and other times at the home of a daughter, Anita Gockley, at 313 The Great Road, Martinsville.
