

Cecil Edward Shively, age 77, of Bassett, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Friendship Manor in Roanoke. Born in Franklin County April 12, 1936, he was a son of the late Frazier and Myrtle Sigmon Shively. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Beulah McCoy Shively, a son, Gary Sexton, and brothers, Artis and Troy Shively. Cecil was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of Sanville Assembly of God and retired from Bassett Furniture Company after 40 years of service. Surviving are two daughters, Judy King of Waynesboro and Carolyn Sue Carner of Austinville, two sons, Randy Shively of Ellicott City, MD, and Jackie Sexton, his sister, Lois Shively of Stanleytown, brothers, Gary Shively of Bassett, Jerry Shively of Ferrum and Eddie Shively of Woolwine, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Ann Akers. The funeral service will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Jonathan King and the Rev. Malcom Anthony officiating. Sunday, at Roselawn Burial Park.
