Christine Tilley Hundley

Born in Henry County on August 27, 1921, she was a daughter of the late James Lee Tilley and Edna Joyce Tilley.

Christine was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Her first job was with the Pants Factory, then Sale Knitting Company and later Fieldcrest Mills.

Christine saw the good in others, recognized her blessings and gave God the glory and honor. She was a courageous example of how to face difficulties in life while maintaining a positive and loving attitude. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, R. Benford Hundley and a brother-in-law, Rev. Bernard E. Joyce.

Christine is survived by one daughter Patsy H. Fleishman and her husband W. Stuart, of Gaithersburg, MD, two sisters and Brother-in-law, Chrystal T. Joyce of Bassett, VA and Elsie T Joyce and her husband Carlton of Eden, NC, a brother, Leroy (Bill) Tilley of Dacula, GA, two grandchildren, Amanda F. Wilson and husband J.D., and Tiffany F. Cupps and husband Arthur, and three great-grandchildren, Isaac Cupps, Ethan Cupps, and Bethany Wilson.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with the Revs. Tim Mills and Jim Pence officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery Church Fund, 3472 Dillons Fork Rd., Fieldale, VA 24089. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett, VA.
