

He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pamela L. Morton; daughters, Angela Morton-Sunkins and husband Theo of Martinsville, April Clayborne and husband Roger of Roanoke; sons, Carl David Morton and wife Jennifer of Martinsville, Alex Zavala and wife Arianna of Clarksville, Tenn.; a bonus son, Andy Zavala and wife Sandra of Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Journey Sunkins, Caleb Sunkins, Gabriel Morton, Dylan Stovall, Brooke Stovall, Patrick Itson, Aliyah Zavala, Alanna Zavala, Abraham Zavala, and David Zavala, Ericka and Gabe; sister, Brenda Morton Bowers and husband Bill of Bassett.
Mr. Morton was retired from Tyco Electronics. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing with his sons and cousins, who he considered brothers. He was of Baptist faith. He was loved and respected by all and was very devoted to his loving family.
There will be a Home Coming Celebration service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Collins Chapel in Bassett with Reverend Tim Hunt officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family will also receive friends at other times at the home of Angela Morton- Sunkins in Martinsville.
