Gary Thomas Ratliff

Gary Thomas Ratliff, age 77, passed away on September 11, 2016 at Martinsville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ratliff was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Frank and Myrtle Godfrey Ratliff; brother, James Edward Ratliff and great nephew, Garrett Brett Ratliff.

Mr. Ratliff is survived by his sister-in-law, Emma Mayes Ratliff of North Palm Beach, FL; niece, Kelly Ratliff Esteves of Singer Island, FL; nephew, Brett Ratliff, of Clover, SC as well as great nieces, Brooke Meadors of Austin, TX; Brittany Berkhead of Richmond, VA and Emma Taylor Ratliff of York, SC. In addition, Mr. Ratliff also leaves behind several beloved friends in the Whitby Acres, Fieldale community.

Mr. Ratliff was born in West Virginia on April 2, 1939. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Afterwards, he installed flooring in Princeton, WV. In 1982, he moved to Whitby Acres and worked for Fieldcrest Mills until retirement. He was a man of faith. Mr. Ratliff loved his family, family gatherings and especially being an uncle. He was fondly referred to as “unk” by many who loved him. He had an appreciation for nature, long walks and especially bird-watching.

A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at Roselawn Burial Park.
