Hazel Curry Reeves

Hazel Marie Curry Reeves, 83, of Bassett, died Wednesday June 12, 2013 at Stanleytown Rehab Center. She was born in Bassett on April 13, 1930 to the late Luther Garland Curry and Susie Shelton Curry. She had worked for Nathan’s Department Store and retired from Bassett-Walker where she worked in shipping. Hazel was a member of Bassett Church of the Brethren where she was very active in the church choir, served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship Group.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Reeves, and one sister, Jean Franklin.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Richard Stout of Bassett and Diane and Mike Dunkley of Collinsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Teresa Reeves of Fieldale, one sister, Mary Vernon of Douglasville, Georgia, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Bassett Church of the Brethren with Rev. Clyde Hylton officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Friday June 14, 2013 at Bassett Church of the Brethren and other times at the home of a daughter, Linda Stout at 2350 County Line Road, Bassett, Virginia.
