Joyce Marie Ferguson Spencer, 78, of Stanleytown, Va. died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her home. She was born on September 29, 1938 in Henry County, Va. to Samuel Davis Ferguson and Vina Mary Smith Ferguson, both deceased.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman John Spencer, a son, Samuel Lee Spencer and a brother, Harry Franklin Ferguson.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan Anne Lawson (Roger) of Henry and Janet Joyce (Kenny) of Stoneville, NC; a son, Herman John Spencer, Jr., (Elsie) of Ferrum; four sisters, Sarah Alice Holley of Henry, Patricia Schmidt of Memphis, TN, Peggy Carolyn Brown of Henry and Sandra Faye Richardson of Bassett; grandchildren, Leanne Worley, Steve Holley, Leslie Spencer and Jessica Clifton; a step-grandson, Kenneth Hodges; and three great-grandchildren, Julia Holley, Greg Holley and Rachel Worley.
Mrs. Spencer attended Victory Christian Center in Collinsville, VA.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, with Pastors Curtis Christian and Janet McGhee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will follow at Mill Creek Cemetery in Henry, VA.
