

Junior Baxter Fulcher, age 86, of Bassett, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 20, 2013, in the VA Medical Center, Salem. Born in Patrick County May 7, 1927, he was a son of the late Henry Russell Fulcher and Julia Feazelle Fulcher. Also preceding him in death were four sisters, Sallie F. Law, Elma F. Gilley, Lucille Wyatt and Mary Lou Fulcher, two brothers, Calvin Fulcher and Glenn Fulcher. Junior was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Japan as a Military Policeman immediately following World War II. He retired from American Furniture Company and later went back to work at Shenandoah Furniture. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Florence M. Fulcher, two sons, R. Wayne Fulcher and James L. Fulcher both of Bassett, two sisters, Gladys Collins of Patrick Springs and Ruth Fulcher of Stuart, a brother, Samuel Henry Fulcher of Collinsville, five grandchildren, Brian Fulcher, Jason Fulcher, Cristy F. Whitlock, Jamie F. Peters, Kimberly F. Cagle and twelve great-grandchildren, Luke Fulcher, Hunter Whitlock, Fisher Whitlock, Colin Fulcher, Aiden Fulcher, Levi Peters, Ella Whitlock, Carleigh Whitlock, Michael Fulcher, Noah Fulcher, Makenna Fulcher, Susanna Fulcher, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 1 P.M., Monday, June 24, 2013, at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, with Pastor Wayne Fulcher and Pastor Brian Fulcher officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park with full military honors by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
