Lois Prillaman Thompson

It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Prillaman Thompson announces her passing on August 9, 2018, at the age of 93 years. A native of Bassett Forks, VA, Lois attended the National Business College, graduated as the top secretarial student and was immediately hired as the personal secretary of TB Stanley, head of Stanley Furniture. After the end of World War II she took a position with the federal government in Washington, D.C. where she met and married William R. Thompson of West Virginia, an attorney also working in the capital. Lois was a stay-at-home mom for several years and then went back to work as a secretary for the federal government until her retirement. She spent the majority of her retirement at her home in Radford, VA until her death. Lois is survived by her daughter Sandra Jaronski and her husband Walter, son Rick Thompson and his wife Peggy, and six grandchildren: Becky (Jimmy), Walter, Maggie (Pierce), Ryan, Shannon, and Jack. She is also survived by her stepchildren Linda Sollenberger and Douglas Thompson, and by her sister Kathryn Martin and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Tillman and Dennis Prillaman and sister Frances Humphries. Services will be held at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett, VA on Saturday, August 18th at 11 AM, interment to follow.
