

He was born October 17, 1931 in Danville, Virginia to William Lynn Skinner and Lilly Barrow Skinner, both deceased.
Mr. Skinner served in the Korean War as a tank sergeant. He had worked for New River Electric as a lineman, and was the co-founder of S & S Mini Market. Mr. Skinner was a part-time farmer and a member of the IBEW local union 636. He was of the Christian Faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Georganna Jackson and brothers, Henry Skinner and William Lynn Skinner.
He is survived by his wife, Marion L. Skinner of the home; two daughters, Rhonda Skinner of Reidsville, North Carolina and Terese S. Slate and her husband, Wayne of Bassett; two sons, Robert “Bob” M. Skinner and his wife, Kim of Ridgeway and William Cary Skinner of Bassett; two beloved grandchildren, Katie M. Slate and Danielle T. Slate; six step-grandchildren, Kim Durham, Lisa Slate, Cody and Nick Lopez and Chris and Alexis Cunningham and ten nieces and nephews, Tim Skinner, Henry Skinner, Starrett Skinnner, Rebecka Skinner, Terry Skinner, Candace Skinner, Shannon Jackson, Stacy Jackson, Stuart Jackson, Sloan Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett and other times at the home of his daughter, Terese Slate, 1845 Philpott Drive, Bassett and at his home, 2215 Philpott Drive, Bassett.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on, March 5, 2010 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett with Pastor Lew Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
