Robert Kenneth Whitlow

Robert Kenneth “Cotton” Whitlow, 82, formerly of Collinsville, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Emeritus Assisted Living in Danville where he was a resident. He was born in Montgomery County, May 24, 1931 to James and Lonnie Linkous Whitlow. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from DuPont after 35 years of service. He was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby W. Turner and a brother, George Whitlow.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy Belcher Whitlow of Danville; one daughter, Donna Petrone and husband, John of Woodbridge, VA; one son, Bobby Whitlow of Goose Creek, SC; one sister, Audrey W. Morris of Georgia; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Minister Tim Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home.
