

Born in Henry County March 9, 1948, he was a son of the late Louie Washington Joyce and Susie Tuggle Joyce. Also preceding him in death were his sisters Edith Wray and Racine Craig; and brothers Curtis and Dolphus Joyce.
Ronnie was a Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars among other decorations. He was the owner and operator of Ronald G Joyce Sand and Gravel Company and he was employed by Fieldcrest-Cannon for more than 20 years. He retired from Henry County Public Schools in August where he was a bus driver for eight years.
He is survived by his son, Chris Joyce and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Joyce of Apex, NC; his daughter, Sheryl Bondurant and son-in-law, Jason Bondurant of Martinsville; four grandchildren, Bryson Joyce, Cameron Joyce, Taylor Bondurant, and Callie Bondurant; sisters Ilda Mitchell, Geneva Dillon, Nellie Terry (Carl), Bea Adams (David), Peggy Merriman (Moyer); and brothers, Bobby Joyce (Jean), and Tommy Joyce (Emma Dean), all of Bassett, and friend Linda Hodges of Richmond.
The funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Elder Mark Terry officiating. Interment will follow at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2014, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Old Center Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Ann Martin, 2474 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, VA, 24055.
