Virginia Belle Franklin Farmer

Born November 25, 1918, in Henry County, she was a daughter of the late Eldridge S. Franklin and Arabelle Philpott Franklin.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, George W. Farmer, brothers, James L. Franklin, Sr., Thomas A. Franklin, Alva E. Franklin, Charlie J. Franklin, H. Jack Wade, George G. Wade, sisters, Mattie Sue Franklin Adams, Dixie Wade Mattox, and Mary Elizabeth Kinney.

Virginia Belle was a 1938 graduate of Bassett High School and attended Perry Business School. She was a member of Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church, and was retired from the U.S. Department of State after 36 years of service.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 18, 2011, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett, with the Rev. Dorian Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
