Virginia Wilkinson Horsley, 96, of Fieldale, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Virginia was born in Yanceyville, NC on November 17, 1927, to the late John Thomas Wilkinson and Annie Wilkinson. After she and her family moved to Fieldale, Virginia, she started working for Dupont in Martinsville, Virginia where she enjoyed a career lasting 38 years before retirement.

Virginia was pre-deceased by her husband, Willie, and her sisters Charlotte Joyce and Addie Gibbs. She is survived by her son, John David Horsley and his wife, Julie, of Olney, MD, her daughter, Claudia English and her husband, Ray Fischer, of Spartanburg, SC, four grandchildren, Jason Horsley and his wife Tina, Andrew and Katelyn Horsley, Monica Albright and her husband Steve, two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Amy Albright. Also, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

Virginia’s greatest love was spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, cooking, gardening and singing in the choir at Fieldale Baptist Church. Sitting on her front porch swing while talking with family and friends was another favorite activity. Most recently, she enjoyed feeding and watching all the birds, squirrels, deer and other animals in her yard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy, Martinsville, VA 24112, or to your favorite charity in memory of Virginia Wilkinson Horsley.

Family and friends are invited to join her family for a visitation to be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA 24055 at 10:00 am with a Memorial Service at 11:00 am and her interment to follow at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Dr, Martinsville, VA 24112. The family will also be hosting a luncheon following the interment at One Starling BnB, 1 Starling Ave, Martinsville, VA 24112.
