William “Bill” Anthony Hylton, 93, of Fieldale, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as sturdy and classic as his 1936 Ford Coupe. Bill was born to the late Jasper Roy Hylton and Sarah Lou Hopkins Hylton on July 18, 1932. He grew up in a full house alongside his brothers, Clarence “Hub” Hylton, Cecil Hylton, and James Hylton, and his sister, Ethylene “Lene”, all of whom surely greeted him with open arms in heaven. His sisters, Audrey Roberts and Ola Huffman, survive.
Bill is also survived by his loving wife, Nannie Mae Mize Hylton; his son, Greg Hylton (Betty); daughter, Donna Hyton Mason (Kelly); four grandchildren, Mindy Hylton Clark (John), Tavis Wright Hylton, Jeremy Stuard Mason, and Jessica Mason Riddle (Brian); five great-grandchildren, Heidi Mason, Joshua Mason, Isaac Mason, Lydia Mason, and Lynley Clark who will all miss his guidance and warmth.
For 73 incredible years, Bill walked through life hand-in-hand with his devoted wife, Mae. Theirs was a partnership built to last—from raising their children, Greg and Donna, to spending 21 sunny winters camping in Florida. Bill was the ultimate family man, a title he wore proudly as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to a crew that kept him smiling.
Whether he was at a Rod Run with the Old Dominion Street Rod Association or greeting neighbors at “Bill’s Used Cars,” Bill was a fixture in the community. He was an industrious spirit with an entrepreneur’s heart, but his foundation was always his Baptist faith. A devout member of Critz Baptist Church, Bill loved his church family as his own.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 1:00 p.m. at Critz Baptist Church, 3284 Dogwood Rd., Critz, VA, immediately followed by his funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Bill will be laid to rest at Spoon Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Via Orchard Rd., Critz, VA.
Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Dr., Bassett, VA, is serving the Hylton family. To express condolences online, please visit www.collinsmckeestonebassett.com
