

He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving in Italy, France, and North Africa where he received two Purple Hearts. He retired as a foreman in the Composing Room of the Boston Herald Traveler, but was a man of many talents, working as a chef, real estate agent, teacher and more throughout his “retirement years”.
Alphonse was a man of strong faith, and was loving, generous, and full of life, never meeting a stranger in all his years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Barbato; his daughters, Marie Silva, Dorothy Buccieri, and Sofia Barbato; his grandchildren, Angela Christina and Gregory Silva and Liana and Julia Buccieri; great-grandchildren Asher and Luca Malenfant Buccieri; and sister, Dorothy Mazzone.
Viewing, rosary and reception will be September 20th 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, TX. Funeral Mass will be celebrated September 21st at 10:00 AM at Ascension Catholic Church, Bastrop and he will be buried in the Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery, Killeen, TX at 2:00 PM September 21st.
Memorial donations may be made in Alphonse’s name to Ladies of Charity, Bastrop.
