Eula Boyd Hennesey

Eula Boyd Hennesey was born in the small community of Concrete, Texas in DeWitt County on November 9, 1916. Her parents Jesse Bennet and Florence Ellen Duncan had eight children and she was youngest.

Boyd married Jimmy Hennesey on July 1, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas and soon had two sons, Jimmy Dale and Bobby Jewel.

The family moved to Bastrop in 1946 where Jim and Boyd operated the Friendship Rest Home on their 1000 acre cattle ranch. In 1951 she gave birth to Karen Loy Hennesey. Karen died two months later with an abnormality of the intestines.

Boyd and Jim were members of the First Baptist Church where Jim was a Deacon and Boyd taught Sunday school. Eula Boyd had an amazing ability to make lifelong friends that she cherished. She seldom forgot anyone’s birthday.

Her husband and son Jimmy Dale preceded her in death along with her infant daughter Karen.

Boyd passed away August 9, 2016 while living at the Argent Courts assisted living facility.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00am Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Bastrop. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Bastrop.
