

Sid’s first love was Jan Baker, who he married July 31, 1954, just after he graduated from Texas A&M and Jan graduated from Baylor. They were blessed with three daughters, Debra, Pamela and Kimberly. Sid joined the Active Duty Air Force in April of 1955. He immediately went into pilot training, which turned into the second love of his life. He really loved flying and served in many different states.
His tours of duty included the Pentagon twice, Germany, the Philippines, Thule, Greenland and Vietnam twice. Sid’s distinguished career merited several medals, citations and decorations including: Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit Medal, Distinguished Flying Crosswith 6 oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Awardwith 2 oak leaf clusters, Combat Readiness Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medalwith 5 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 6 oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Gallantry Cross Medal w/ Palm Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Campaign Medal.
