James Edward Casey

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Casey of Cedar Creek, TX, his 6 children: Lisa Harlien (Christopher) of Mesa Arizona, Chrystal Suarez (Gabriel) of Cedar Creek TX, Kaci Casey of San Angelo TX, Ranee Kisamore (James) of Cedar Creek TX, Justin Casey of Cedar Creek TX, and Ashley DeShay (Murry Jr.) of Cedar Creek TX and his 15 grandchildren: Brenden Atkins, James Kisamore III (Trey), Autumn Kisamore, Gavin Harlien, Holden Suarez, Ashlynn Kisamore, Caden Casey, Presley Harlien, Kaitlyn Casey, Destiny DeShay, Murry DeShay III (Traes), Granger Suarez, Karlee Casey, Decker Suarez and Casey DeShay.

He leaves behind his siblings: Brother David Casey and Wife Sandy of Richwood TX, Sister Kathy Orsak of LaMarque TX and sister Rita Gann and husband Glenn Gann of El Campo TX, and his blood brother Jim Smith and wife Karen of Sealy TX.

And he leaves behind aunts, uncles, an abundance of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Edward H. Casey of Teague TX, Mother Luella Bodungen Casey of El Campo TX and Step Mother Opal F. Casey of Teague TX, Grandfather Walter H. Casey and Grandmother Willie E. Casey of Brady TX, Grandmother Lula F. (Henderson) Bodungen Sager of El Campo TX and Grandfather George Sager of Orchard TX.

James Casey was born on August 28, 1951 in El Campo, TX to Edward H. Casey and Luella Bodungen Casey. He graduated from El Campo High School in 1969. He married Mary Nell Sargent Casey on June 16,1979. Many know him for his amazing musical talents /gift, his band in high school started his career: James Casey and the Wandering Cowboys. He was also lead singer of Sounds of Country and then, and more commonly known, James Casey and the Texas Swing Band.

A funeral is scheduled for Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2pm in Bastrop, TX at The Marrs-Jones Newby Funeral Home with gravesite farewell to follow. Rev. Mike Schwarts of Wyldwood Baptist Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate James Casey’s life. Flowers and condolences may be sent to the funeral home.
