

Mary Barton Henley, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away into the loving arms of Jesus, Saturday, November, 7. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred McDuff Barton and WA Barton, her brother Billy Barton and her brother-in-law Bobby Henley.
Mary was born in Elgin Texas, January 21, 1933 to Mildred and WA Barton.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Horace Henley, Jr, and 4 daughters: Sharon Morris and husband Keith, Beverly Henley, Dona Glick and husband Jeff, Kristi Hansen , 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, her brother Bobby Barton of Utley, Texas., and her sisters-in-law, Zana Gandy and Nell Henley who were like sisters to her.
After graduating from Bastrop High School she attended Texas Tech University where she met at married the love of her life, Horace. Together they raised four daughters. Together they also started and ran several businesses over the years: Henley Floor and Wall Decorations, Henley Construction, Apache Industries, Metal Building Manufacturer, American Incubator, and U-C Ranch. Mary and Horace retired on the Barton Family Farm in Utley, Texas in 1989.
Mary was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. She played piano for the church in her early years. In her later life she developed her talent as a painter and artist. She was also a member of the Bastrop Fine Arts Gallery. Her family and friends can attest to her wonderful home cooking and baking. She taught her daughters and granddaughter to sew and she crocheted beautiful afghans for her family. She enjoyed traveling.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in loving memory of Mary Barton Henley.
Services and viewing will held at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, located at 505 Old Austin Highway in Bastrop, Texas. The Visitation will be from 6PM to 8PM on Thursday, November 12, 2015. The funeral service will begin at 1Pm on Friday, November 13, 2015 with a light reception to follow. The graveside service will begin at 3PM at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Texas.
