William Dennis Barnard

Dennis worked a Pfau Tire from 1964 to 1987 where he worked his way from tire technician to district manager over 17 stores in 16 cities. In August of 1987 Dennis and his partner, Johnny Moore, opened Barnard Tire and Wheel in Bastrop. They opened a second store in 1997 and sold the business in 2010 to retire with his wife of 43 years, Cindy Barnard.

After Dennis retired, the real work started with all his projects, which included building BBQ pits, trailers, or helping friends and neighbors with their tractors and equipment. While Dennis was not helping others, he enjoyed spending time with his family barbequing, hunting, fishing, camping, or just getting together to spend time with everyone.

Dennis never knew a stranger and would drop anything he was doing to help someone in need. While he was a mentor for many, his greatest passion was teaching his grandson, Josh Barnard, how to weld, paint and fabricate.

Dennis was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles Albert Barnard and Oma May Barnard; brothers, Carlos Ardell Barnard and Jimmy Ray Barnard; and a sister Mary Louise Barnard.

He is survived by: his wife, Cindy Moore Barnard; sons, Jimmy Ray Barnard, Jeffrey Aaron Barnard and wife Dawn, William Eric Barnard and wife Elizabeth Jane; Grandchildren, Josh Lee Barnard, Addison Marie Barnard and Crystal Adele Barnard; sisters, Alta Naomi Helford and Oma Mae Barnard; brothers, David Allen Barnard and wife Bonita, Charles Albert Barnard and wife Jeri; In-laws, Dennis Moore and wife Margaret, Kathryn Davidson, Johnny R. Moore and wife Sharon, David A. Moore and wife Glenda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Gathering of Family and Friends is 6:00 - 8:00pm Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, Bastrop, Texas. A Celebration of Life is 10:00am Friday, July 8, 2016 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home.
