Adrienne Case McDowell, 21, an LSU student who graduated from Episcopal High School, rose to the heavens on her angel wings very early Monday morning, Jan. 31, 2011, finally free of the monster that raged a war within her tiny body. Always with a bright smile on her face and giving the thumbs up, she fought bravely and taught each person she encountered the meaning of true strength. She joins lost loved ones in heaven and is finally able to meet her "Pop" and see her "Granddad" again. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Neil R. Strickland, and paternal grandfather, Dr. Donald D. McDowell. Adrienne is survived by her parents, Donald D. McDowell Jr. and Kahne Strickland McDowell; brothers, Kyle and Donnie; maternal grandmother, Rosalie Smith Strickland; paternal grandmother, Ann Kohl McDowell; and uncles, aunts, and cousins: John and Marty Engquist, Susan McDowell, Dale and Jennifer Ducote, Ellis Ducote, Ryan, Claire and Thomas Engquist, John, Gwen and John Engquist; beloved boyfriend, Jon David Babb; and the shining star and constant companion of her life, Ace.
