Aileen Weiner Dampf a longtime resident of Baton Rouge she passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. James Place. She was born in Merigold, Mississippi on August 4, 1927 and grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Tupelo High School and Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority and several service organizations. After graduating from LSU with a degree in journalism, she volunteered as a reader of textbooks for the blind. She married Ernest Dampf and helped him start his business, Young Fashions. The firm specialized in youth fashion merchandise and school uniforms. She was a lifelong member of Congregation Bnai Israel and its sisterhood organization and was the 2004 recipient of the President's award for outstanding service to the congregation. She organized Friday night Temple services for St. James Place for the Jewish residents and all those that chose to attend. Most recently she was honored for 65 years of service to Bnai Israel Sisterhood. Affectionately known as ?Grammie? she served as president of the PTA, den mother for the Cub Scouts, editor of the Congregation Bnai Israel monthly bulletin, and served on boards of various organizations. Her love of history and political science lead her to visit many presidential libraries and homes. Along with tailgating and attending LSU football games she enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, travelling, and entertaining for her family. Private graveside services will be conducted by Rabbi Barry Weinstein. Aileen is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Jack M. Dampf and Susan Marcus Dampf; Robert S. Dampf and Courtney Lepick Dampf, all of Baton Rouge; and her grandchildren; Paige Dampf Wormser and husband Ben Wormser; Dr. Paul M. Dampf and wife, Stacy Dorman Dampf; Ben Dampf and wife, Katherine Hand Dampf, all of Baton Rouge; Patricia Dampf Skylar and husband, Alex Sylar of Atlanta, Georgia; Morgia Dampf Holmes and husband, Todd Holmes of Boulder, Colorado; and John ?Jack? Dampf of Venice, California. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, a sister, Shirley Lockenbach of Miami, Florida; a brother, Edwin Weiner of Rockville, Maryland; a sister-in-law, Joel Dampf Lowenstein and her husband Irwin Lowenstein of Sarasota, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest A. Dampf and her parents, Lucille and Sol Weiner.
