Albert Lee Garrett, also known as “PAWPAW COACH”, 84 years old, gained his wings on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on July 17, 2022, at The Crossing of Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, surrounded by his family. Albert was born on August 9, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Jennings High School and proudly served on the USS Hornet from August 1956 to August 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Clara Garrett; brother, Jimmy Baker; sister, Helen Bailey; and his best friend, Bufford. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Garrett; daughter, Sheri and her husband Neal; son, Dale and his girlfriend Michelle; grandkids, Brandon Garrett, Troy Garrett and his girlfriend Samantha, Shannon and her husband Beau, and Amber Mclain. He has 6 great grandkids, Hayden, Chandler, Chloe, Carma, Raelynn and Haisley. Albert coached at the YMCA, he coached Basketball, and baseball. Albert loved his LSU tigers as well as his Bulldogs. He loved watching football, baseball, and basketball. He also loved fishing and collecting lighthouses, as well as any hot air balloon pins, Spiderman, Yoda, and lastly wolves! Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, from 5 - 8 PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East.
