

Allen J. Bergeron, Jr., 74, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday May 30, 2010 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Allen is survived by his wife of 50 years Mary Jean Knott Bergeron; daughter Rachel Bergeron Pope and husband Gaither; sons Paul Marshall Bergeron and wife Kim, and Andrew Bergeron and wife Julie; grandchildren: Aaron, Claire, Connor, Sophia, Cameron, and Jack Bergeron and Henry Pope; brother-in-law Patrick Knott and wife Sherry; niece Melissa Knott and nephew Major Andrew Knott. Allen is preceded in death by his parents Allen Joseph Bergeron, Sr. and Betty Pourciau Bergeron. A resident of Baton Rouge, Allen attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Catholic High School. Before completing his college degree, Allen served in the U.S. Army as a German and Russian interpreter. After returning home and finishing his undergraduate degree from LSU, Allen completed his juris doctorate degree from LSU School of Law. He maintained his private practice and worked for the EBR Parish Public Defender’s Office. Allen was appointed Commissioner of the 19th Judicial District Court where he served for over 20 years. In his spare time, Allen was an avid golfer and LSU football fan who loved music and books. He was a member of Catholic High’s Men’s Club and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church Parish. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday June 2, 2010 at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5PM until 8PM and continuing on Thursday June 3, 2010 from 9AM until time of services at 10AM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Rev. Donald Blanchard will be presiding over the services. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff who took such wonderful care of Allen.
