

On December 19, 2020, Alvin “Big Al” Gayle White, Jr., age 46, gained his crown for a life well lived. He was a native of Zachary, La., and a resident of Greenwell Springs, La. He was a graduate of Northeast High School and Western Truck School. Al was an 18-year employee of XPO Logistics. His passion for cooking led him to entrepreneurship, owning and operating Big Al’s Soul Cuisine for over 15 years. As a man of faith, he had a strong commitment to his family. A charismatic personality, Al loved classic cars, good food, music, the LSU Tigers, his hats and laughter. He captured the hearts of many through his food, warmth, love and authenticity.
Al leaves to cherish his sweet memory, his high-school sweetheart and wife of 20 years, Juanetta; their only child and “favorite son”, Ashton; three sisters, Minister Perphyria Douglas, Chaunda White, and Alerion Martin; one brother, Gastinel White; grandmother, Louvilla Holliday; grandfather, Alvin J. White; parents-in-law, Pastor Ollie and Missionary Florence Scott; one sister-in-law, Charletta (Delbert) Montgomery; and one brother-in-law, Tony Sanders, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
Preceded in death by his parents, Brenda White and Alvin White, Sr.; grandmother, Bertha White; grandfather, Moses Holliday; two aunts and one uncle.
All services will occur at Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend the public visitation on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A private family viewing will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 9:00 am, with a private service immediately following at 10:00 am.
