

Barbara Ann Thiel Acosta, age 81, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was called home to meet Jesus on September 4th 2024 in her home after a brief battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time she passed.
Barbara was born-on November 10th 1943; Barbara was the 2nd of 4 sisters of Roy Gaulette Thiel (1922-2007) and Eugenie Gaudin Thiel (1992-2009) The family resided in Baton Rouge La. Barbara graduated from Glenoaks High School and attended LSU and worked as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for Huard’s and the State of Louisiana.
She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Lawrence J Acosta Sr., (1943-1989) they lived in Baton Rouge La. and went on to have twins in 1967, Lawrence John Acosta Jr and Elizabeth Yvonne Acosta. They moved to Walker and lived there until Lawrence John Acosta Sr. passed. She then moved back to Baton Rouge where she lived with family. She knew the Lord as her personal savior. She was a member and attended Healing Place church.
To say she was an artist is an understatement. She painted, crocheted, quilted, sewed, made arts and crafts of all kinds during every season and loved to sell them at her sister’s antique shop. She loved to cook and share a meal. She made candy throughout the year and loved sharing. She loved coffee, diet coke and a good hamburger. She loved football. Geaux Tigers! She loved traveling, the east coast, San Destin beaches and cruising are just a few of her favorites. She loved spending time with her family. She was our constant cheerleader and supporter. Her favorite saying was “You can be anything you want to be, it’s never too late.”
A longtime resident of Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence John Acosta Sr., and her parents, Roy Gullette Thiel (1922-2007) and Eugenie Gaudin Thiel (1922-2009). She is survived by her 2 Children, Lawrence John Acosta Jr, Elizabeth Acosta Rabel, 3 sisters, Alice Jean Brannon (Donald), Patricia Ann Persick (William), and Royce Perkins (Chuck); and 5 grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be conducted.
