

Barbara McLoud Henry passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, after a long and full life. She was born on March 26, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and from Chevy Chase Junior College in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in 1946.
Barbara was a past board member of the LSU Museum of Art, a member and past president of Chapter AJ, P.E.O., a sustaining member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, a member of the “Thirsty Thursday” group, a member of The Philistoria Study Club, and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Barbara spent many years volunteering for the Foundation for Historical Louisiana and Magnolia Mound.
Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family and friends, and her dedication to the Baton Rouge community she called home for so many years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Stephen G. Henry, Jr.; her daughter, Susan Henry Jones; her mother, Barbara Pattison McLoud Elder; her stepfather, Crawford L. Elder; her father, William R. McLoud; her brother, Bruce H. McLoud; her sister-in-law, Terrell Jane McLoud; her stepbrother, Crawford L. Elder, Jr. (“Bud”); and her sister-in-law, Alberta Ternes Elder.
Barbara is survived by her granddaughters, Jacquelyn Jones Wilson (Brandon) and Kimberly Jones Carroll (Casey), and five great-grandchildren: Tenley Wilson, Piper Wilson, Tucker Wilson, Ryker Carroll, and Blakely Carroll. She is also survived by a son, Stephen Garrett Henry III (Elizabeth), and his children: Stephen Garrett Henry IV, Katherine Elizabeth Henry, Emily Rebecca Henry, and Matthew Russell Henry.
Jacquelyn and Kimberly will honor Barbara with a private service at a later date. They are deeply grateful for the wonderful caregivers and staff of Sunrise Senior Living and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
