Betty Hogue Bird

Our gentle, kind, and loving mother passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Third child of Bert and Edith Hogue. Survived by her daughters and sons in law, Debra and Joe D. Solar, Jessie S. and J. Milton Valentine; sons and daughter in law, Leonard (Lennie) and Stephanie B. Steele and Claude B. Steele; grandchildren, Michael and Christy Solar, Crystal and Brad Welch, Jaime D. Solar, Travis and Ashley W. Valentine and John-Colt S. Valentine; great grandchildren, Claire, Michael, and Chloe Solar, Joe, Case, and Mikayla Welch, J. Taylor and Jersi Jo Valentine; sisters, Shara Hogue Wilson and Margie H. Everette; brother and sister in law, Robert and Shelby Jean Hogue and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Levert H. Bird, daughter, Theresa Marie Steele, and great grandson, Michael Wade Welch; parents, Bert and Edith Hogue; brother, Ralph Hogue; sisters, Dorothy and Linda Hogue and Barbara Jean Burson-Gilmore. She was a devoted member of the LDS church and served as Primary President working with children for many years. She loved sewing and spent many hours outdoors in her flower garden. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2016 beginning at 10am until funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park, 60455 Bayou Jacob Rd. Plaquemine, LA. 70764. Pallbearers will be Michael Solar, Travis Valentine, Brad Welch, John-Colt Valentine, Joe and Case Welch, Michael W. Solar, and Robert Burson. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard E. Steele, J. Taylor Valentine, Joe D. Solar, and J. Milton Valentine.
