
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at her home. She was 77 and a native of Donaldsonville. She was a 1950 graduate of Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing, was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Alumni and worked in various fields of nursing for 37 years. She was a retired Dow Chemical employee with 30 years of service as an occupational health nurse. She was also active in the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Occupational Nursing, having held various offices at the local and state level. Betty was an active member of St. George Catholic Church since 1967, a Eucharistic minister and was an adult server teamed with her husband. She was also a member of a hospital visiting team, visiting to the home bound, a member of the St. George Altar Society, small Christian community and a rosary group with dear friends she really loved. Her hobbies were gardening and fishing and she enjoyed playing cards with many longtime friends. She is survived by her husband of more than 56 years, W.T. Doughty; grandson, Jason P. Doughty, U.S. Navy; granddaughter, Courtney Thompson, of Baton Rouge; daughter-in-law, Cathy Doughty, of Niceville, Fla.; three brothers, Frank Constantino and his wife, Louise, of Zachary, and Pete Constantino and his wife, Jannie, and Gleen Constantino, all of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Joyce C. Jones, of Baton Rouge, and Olive C. Richard, of Donaldsonville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick T. Doughty; parents, Joe and Agnes Constantino; and brothers, Joe Constantino Jr. and Louis Constantino. Special thanks to all her physicians, Life Source Service and Kelley Home Care, all of Baton Rouge, and many thanks to all of her friends who helped and prayed for her during her long life illness. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church, on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Frank Bass, celebrant. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scleroderma Research Foundation or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East in charge of arrangements.
