
A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Haiti, she was daughter of the late Lionel John and Enola Folse Bourgeois. She was born April 15, 1920, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where her father had been sent by President Woodrow Wilson to run the education system as minister of education during the U.S. occupation of that island country. Her parents moved back to New Orleans after his appointment was completed and she finished schooling there as a 1938 graduate of Sophie B. Wright High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger R. Dornier Sr.; and six brothers and sisters, Lionel J. Bourgeois, Enola B. Welsch, Carol B. Hoyle, Madelyn B. Stubenrauch, Margaret B. Barber and Thomas R. Bourgeois. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Rick Dornier, who was her little Superman. Survivors include her six children, Roger R. Dornier Jr. and Loyce Ann, Russell L. Dornier and Joan, Beverly D. Roberts and George, Randall N. Dornier and Harriet, Rene J. Dornier and Sue, and Melisse A. Dornier; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren together with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize the ladies at Southside Gardens who provided courteous, respectful and loving care. And special thanks to Jackie and Regina at Amedisys Hospice for exceptional care over her final months. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday. Feb. 3, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. until funeral Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius School.
