Beverly was born in Shreveport. She was a graduate of Byrd High School and LSU. She spent most of her life in Baton Rouge. She worked for over 30 years as a teacher at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired and East Baton Rouge Parish Schools.
Beverly was a caring, loving, and compassionate person who lived in service to others, especially those in the visually impaired community. She was always active in church, demonstrating the centrality of her faith. A highly accomplished pianist, she also served as children’s church choir director and played clarinet in the LSU marching band, showing her lifelong love of music. Beverly had a deep affection for anything LSU as well as sports in general. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to colder climates, and especially cherished her annual trips to Montana. Beverly never got old, always keeping a childlike sense of wonder.
Beverly is survived by George, her husband of 46 years; children Shea, Scott (Brittany), and Stuart (Carole); and sister Lynda Ludy (James). Her grandchildren, Daisy and Colston, were the delights of her life. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and former students and friends too numerous to count.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Chrystine Reeves.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet ICU for their dedication and care during Beverly’s illness, particularly her nurses Kaitlyn, Kandace, Kayla, and Lynn. Special thanks are given to Fabian for acting as her angel during her final days.
Visitation will be Friday, December 21st from 6 to 8 PM at Greenoaks Funeral Home and will resume Saturday, December 22nd at 11 AM with funeral services following at noon. Following the burial, a light reception will be held at Broadmoor Baptist Church. The Reverend Oren Conner will be officiating.
Pallbearers include Bret Altom, Alex Dobbyn, Jim Ludy, Ben Phillips, Gary Smith, and Rick Tully.
